Wie die WirtschaftsWoche berichtet, treffen sich Audi-Vorstandschef Rupert Stadler und Beschaffungsvorstand Bernd Martens am Dienstag in Brasilia mit Präsidentin Dilma Rousseff, um nach monatelangen Verhandlungen den Bau von zwei Modellvarianten des Audi A3 in Curitiba zu besiegeln. Stadler will den Absatz von Audi bis 2020 auf zwei Millionen Fahrzeuge steigern – Ende dieses Jahres wird voraussichtlich die Marke von 1,5 Millionen Fahrzeugen überschritten.
Brasilien ist in dieser Strategie ein wichtiger Baustein. Zum Leiter von Audi Brasil berief Stadler Jörg Hoffmann, der schon in Australien Erfolge feierte. Profitieren werden von der neuen Produktion auch deutsche Standorte. Über das neue Logistikzentrum in Duisburg werden die A3-Modelle in Teilen nach Südamerika verschifft.
Audi hat bereits Auslandswerke in Ungarn und Belgien, Spanien, Indien, China und Indonesien. 2016 geht eine neue Fabrik in Mexiko in Betrieb.



FRANKFURT (Reuters) - German carmaker Daimler plans to build a new Mercedes factory in Brazil to benefit from growing demand for compact cars in the country, its chief executive told a German newspaper.

Stuttgarter Zeitung cited the luxury carmaker's CEO Dieter Zetsche as saying Daimler would choose this year between two or three locations it had shortlisted for the plant in Brazil.

He told the daily's Saturday edition it would not have been profitable to export compact cars to Brazil.

"With the new compact class we have cars on offer that are attractive and can be produced at low costs, making them a good fit for this market," Zetsche said.

"It was simply a question of either producing in Brazil or not to be present there at all in this segment. Our decision is: We want to take part."

Zetsche did not specify the model to be built there. Daimler defines its compact class as comprising the A-class and B-class as well as GLA and CLA models.

Daimler said last month it was considering such a move but had made no decision yet.

Luxury carmakers are flocking to Brazil in an attempt to exploit growing demand. Brazil's government complicated their plans, however, with an effort to protect local jobs by increasing a tax on foreign-made cars last year.

Brazil's auto industry lobby group on Thursday raised its 2013 production outlook helped by exports, mainly to the United States.



Audi e Mercedes hanno deciso di aprire degli stabilimenti produttivi in Brasile per produrre auto compatte. In realtà in Brasile non si vendono molte auto di lusso, i volumi sono piuttosto risicati.
Nonostante il Brasile faccia parte del Wto i costruttori difficilmente possono esportare auto liberamente verso il paese. L' anno scorso per svantaggiare i costruttori cinesi ( che non hanno fabbriche in Brasile) il governo Rouseff ha inasprito le restrizioni per l' import e in questo modo anche case automobilistiche con volumi ridotti sono costrette a creare proprie fabbriche.
BMW, Mercedes e Audi stanno cercando di esportare il loro successo nel segmento delle compatte dall' Europa all' Asia e al Nord America. Non è un' operazione semplice, sarà interessante osservate come la Cla e la A3 Sedan andranno in Cina e usa.

Quindi avremo la nuova Audi A3 Sportback Culioneros Limited Edition?

Sicuramente saranno fatte nell'Europa dell'Est ma di certo quelle fatte in Brasile non arriveranno in UE (salvo rari modelli). L'articolo lo spiega anche piuttosto chiaramen... ah, sei kanarino...

La cosa vale un pò per tutti nè... anche per quelli che comprano il cinquino con la bandiera italiana sul tetto...

Sempre detto, non sono uno di quelli che sbandiera la 500 polacca come simbolo dell'Italia.

Ma forse proprio il fatto che sia fatta in Polonia la rende migliore di altre Fiat/Alfa Romeo fatte in Italia.

VW to invest $529 million in Audi, Golf production in Brazil

(Reuters) - German automaker Volkswagen AG will soon announce investments of 1.2 billion reais ($529 million) in Brazil to begin local assembly of its newest Golf model and restart local production by its Audi premium division, a spokesman for the state of Parana told Reuters.

Audi Chief Executive Rupert Stadler will meet President Dilma Rousseff in Brasilia at 11 a.m. local time (1400 GMT) on Tuesday, as the carmaker makes plans for an overseas expansion to catch up with luxury-market leader BMW.

Audi's move follows steps by the Brazilian government to raise taxes on imported vehicles while offering tax breaks for carmakers that increase domestic investments.

Instead of building an all-new plant in the world's No. 4 auto market as German rival BMW did, Audi will invest 504 million reais to expand facilities at VW's factory in São Jose dos Pinhais, outside the capital of Parana, the spokesman said.

Ingolstadt-based Audi expects to start production in Brazil in 2015 and produce 26,000 of the compact A3 annually within three years, he said. The plant will also produce the Q3 compact SUV.

Next week, VW will also announce an investment of 700 million reais to prepare for the production of its new Golf model at the factory, according to the spokesman.

Audi's press office in Brazil declined to comment on the information, and a Volkswagen representative was not immediately available.

BMW said in October that it would spend 200 million euros ($267 million) on a factory in Brazil's southern state of Santa Catarina and start production there in late 2014, with the goal of making about 30,000 vehicles per year in the country.

Rising wages, especially for scarce, highly skilled professionals, have made Brazil a bright spot in the global market for luxury goods. But both Honda Motor Co Ltd and General Motors Co have said luxury car sales in Brazil are still too slim to consider making it a base for producing their upmarket offerings.

Brazil is not uncharted territory for Audi. It first entered the market in 1999, when it started building the A3 at the Parana plant jointly developed with VW. But Audi stopped its assembly line at the plant in 2006.

To meet its goal of BMW as the world's best-selling premium carmaker by the end of the decade, Audi is now expanding globally. The brand broke ground for a new plant in Mexico in May and will open one a factory in Foshan, China, later this year.

Daimler expands in Brazil by adding a new facility to the global passenger car production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars. In the future, the next-generation C-Class and the GLA will be produced for the local market in a new assembly plant in Iracemápolis near São Paulo. Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff jointly signed the framework contract with Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans, and Philipp Schiemer, CEO Mercedes-Benz do Brasil & Daimler Latin America. According to the current planning, the first vehicles will roll off the line as early as 2016. An investment of around EUR 170 million has been earmarked for expansion planned in the first stage.
Andreas Renschler: “Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition. The new facility stands exemplarily for the expansion of our global production network – we thereby approach our customers even more.” Regarding the strategic importance of the future local production program, Renschler also said: “With the next generation of the C-Class and the GLA, we will be localizing two highly attractive products with top Mercedes quality, for which we see great potential in the Brazilian premium segment.”
“With the local production of cars, Mercedes-Benz stands out as the only company to act in all segments of mobility in Brazil, with cars, trucks, buses and vans”, said Philipp Schiemer, CEO Mercedes-Benz do Brasil. “The proximity of our production footprint in São Paulo and Minas Gerais will also allow us to have a greater integration among plants and exchange possibilities for the employees.”
The foreseen production in the assembly plant should reach up to 20.000 vehicles each year. Around 1.000 new jobs will be created in the new facility. Furthermore, this should develop approximately 3.000 new jobs for suppliers. Daimler's country company Mercedes-Benz do Brasil will soon complete the purchase of land for the future plant premises in Iracemápolis near São Paulo, allowing for the start of the building preparations.

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) -- Jaguar Land Rover will invest about 1 billion reais ($436.9 million) to build a new manufacturing plant in Brazil's state of Rio de Janeiro, three government sources told Reuters.

Production at the factory, to be built in the city of Itatiaia, could begin as early as 2015, and an official announcement is scheduled for Dec. 3, said one of the sources, who is not authorized to speak on the record.

"Everything is very advanced with only minor details to be worked out," said Luiz Carlos Ferreira Bastos, Itatiaia's mayor. The factory could employ 500 to 700 people, he added.

The two other government sources, both with Rio de Janeiro's state government, confirmed that Land Rover plans to build in Itatiaia, although they declined to be named because they are not authorized to speak to the media.

Earlier this month, Jaguar Land Rover, owned by India's Tata Motors, said it plans to expand manufacturing and increase production in markets outside its UK home base, particularly in China and Brazil.

The decision comes after rival brands BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi all decided to build plants in Brazil, spurred by government moves to raise taxes on imported vehicles, while offering tax breaks for automakers that increase domestic investments.

"Jaguar Land Rover confirms that it is carrying out a study on the installation of a manufacturing unit in the country," a company representative told Reuters on Monday. "At this time, we can not confirm the size of the investment or other details of the study."

Negotiations started at the beginning of this year, one of the sources said, with Rio de Janeiro's state government offering tax breaks and fiscal incentives to help attract the company.

From January through October, Land Rover sold 8,920 automobiles in Brazil, trailing BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which sold 11,520 and 10,510 cars, respectively, according to local auto dealers association Fenabrave.

Complici leggi del tutto mercantilistiche le varie case sono costrette ad aprire in loco fabbriche.

A poco più di un anno dall'annuncio ufficiale, la BMW ha avviato oggi con una cerimonia ufficiale i lavori per la costruzione della fabbrica brasiliana di Araquari. Per il Gruppo di Monaco si tratta del primo stabilimento automobilistico in Sud America e la decisione di investire in quest'area è stata presa dopo gli incoraggianti risultati di vendita del mercato brasiliano, in continua espansione.

Anche a etanolo. In occasione dell'evento, è stata presentata anche la nuova BMW 320i ActiveFlex, prima al mondo a proporre un propulsore twinpower turbo a iniezione diretta capace di funzionare anche con l'etanolo commercializzato localmente.

Produzione al via nel 2014. La fabbrica di Araquari inizierà ad assemblare vetture nell'autunno del 2014 e una volta a regime raggiungerà una capacità di 30.000 veicoli l'anno, dando lavoro a circa 1.300 persone, oltre all'indotto. Tra i modelli che potrebbero popolare le linee di produzione troviamo Mini Countryman, BMW Serie 1, Serie 3, X1 e X3.

Dopo Mercedes, Audi e Jaguar Land Rover anche BMW inaugura il suo stabilimento brasiliano.
